Midshore II Regional Solid Waste Facility provides for disposal of solid waste, household hazardous waste and pesticides. It also recycles used motor oil and antifreeze, scrap tire, auto batteries and textile collection, wood waste processing, and refrigerant recovery. The Midshore II Solid Waste Facility in Ridgely, Md., which opened January 1, 2011, centralizes the waste disposal for Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties. Mid-Shore Regional Landfill I which closed Dec. 31, 2010, is still available as a transfer station and for household trash for Talbot County Residents.

The facility features a “homeowners drop-off” (HODO) dump on Holly Road for free disposal of up to 7 bags of residential household trash per trip. Hours are Mon., Thurs. & Sat. 7 AM-4 PM, Tues., Wed., & Fri. 10 AM-6 PM. Residential and commercial users who have more than 7 bags of trash or commercial waste will be referred to the Landfill on River Road. Commercial waste will be weighed by the ton. The River Road Landfill also accepts brush & yard waste, clean soil, tires, and clean rubble. Hours are Mon-Fri. 7 AM-3:15 PM and Sat. 7 AM-12:15 PM.
