The purpose of the Chesapeake Culinary Center, initiated by the Friends of the Grape, Inc., is to enhance the appeal of downtown Denton, increase the tourism trade in Caroline Co., provide job opportunities to local residents, provide the hospitality industry with a trained work force, introduce “at risk” youth to job opportunities, offer training to create stable and economically independent families, play a part in the economic development in the region, and help get the farmer’s product to market.

Offers a variety of programs and classes to students, targeted populations, and the public in general. Partners with Social Services, the Workforce Investment Board, and the Department of Corrections to train people to be successfully employed in the hospitality industry. Also partners with the Board of Education and Parks and Recreation to provide skills and training to students, some of whom are identified as being “at risk.” This includes instruction at the Caroline Career and Technology Center, and after school and summer programs. Winner of Wedding Caterer of the Year 2010 for KNOT magazine. The culinary center resides in the original high school for Caroline County built in 1901. The school house has been re purposed to be a culinary hub for the Mid Shore Region. Within this building you can find the Caroline Career and Technology Center’s culinary arts program, Commercial Community Kitchen, Catering, shore gourmet market, classes and much more.
