Food Assistance

Services Provided: 

Operates a thrift shop and a food pantry. Proceeds from the thrift shop fund the food pantry. If you are in need of food or clothing, please contact the Samaritan House directly and have ready the following 4 pieces of information: photo id; social security card for everyone in the household; proof of income (tax return, paystubs); and proof of Caroline County residency (utility bill, bank account).

Accepts donation of used clothing, books, toys, and household items in good condition. Recommended food list: tuna, beef stew, pork & beans, corned beef, soup, cereal, jello/pudding, canned milk, rice/beans, canned fruit & vegetables, applesauce, canned tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, dry spaghetti, peanut butter, jelly, juices, and box mixes of macaroni & cheese and tuna helper. The Samaritan House is a project of the interfaith group United Concerned Christians, and is run completely by volunteers. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

After school mentor program, GED classes, Computer Training Classes, Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen, Elementary, middle, and high school tutoring and help with homework assignments.

Provides clothing, emergency food, eviction prevention assistance, and utility assistance to those in need. Please have the following for assistance: photo ID, social security numbers for everyone in the household, proof of income, proof of address, and your lease. Administers the Rental Assistance Program for Caroline County.

Thrift Store open to the public. The Thrift Shop is open from 8:00am - 12:00pm every 1st Saturday of the month. The furniture barn with re-open in the spring. Donations of clothing and small household items accepted M-Fri. 8:30-4:30. Bins available for donations 24 hours a day. Accept donations of clothing, toys, household items, and books. Items must be in good condition.

Emergency Food Pantry Open: Tues., Thurs., Fri. 8:30 AM-11:30 AM; Wed. 6PM-7:30 PM (for established customers only)

The furniture barn will re-open in the spring.

Traditional Church Service at 11 AM. Offers Sunday School which starts at 9:30 with both children's and adult classes. , Teen Disciples begin with lunch, immediately after the 11:00 service on Sunday. Vacation Bible school.
Public hall available. Seats 250. Special features: stage, piano, podium, kitchen with serving counter. Ample parking behind hall. Extra wide door for wheelchair access. Request regulation sheet upon booking.

God's Helping Hands provides food and clothing. Food pantry is open every Saturday 10am to noon.

Food Pantry is open for food distribution on Monday and Wednesday at 11am, Wednesday at 8pm, and the 3rd Thursday of the month at 11am. Affiliated with Maryland Food Bank, so the only criteria to receive assistance is that you are a Maryland resident.
