Respite care is short-term relief care for disabled babies, children, or adults in a family setting. Respite care will provide financial reimbursement for respite care services, follow-up, counseling, guidance, and assistance to the parent in finding an appropriate care worker. Families choose their own careworker, the only rule being they cannot choose someone living in the same household. The respite care takes place in the home of the family requesting the service or a home or facility the family has selected.
