Caroline County Historical Society

Purpose:
The Caroline County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and restoring historical artifacts and buildings, as well as educating the public about the history of the County.
Services Provided:

The Historical Society is at work on a project "Preserving Old Caroline", which seeks to document, stabilize, relocate, market, restore and salvage numerous historic structures throughout the county. Some of these buildings will be relocated to the evolving Linchester Mill project, or the new "ArtsWay" in Denton. Other buildings will be sold and restored by private owners with the assistance of the Historical Society. In addition, they are working in conjunction with the Tourism Office on creating a tourism infrastructure and plan to use small buildings as tourist information points, such as kiosks and visitor reception buildings. The Museum of Rural Life, run by members of the Historical Society, is open to the public. It acts as a repository of Caroline County artifacts. There is a mailing list notifying members of annual meetings and special fundraising events. Individuals and school groups are invited to tour the Museum.
